Shot as he entered: A judge died from his injuries

A Maryland judge in the US was reportedly shot dead outside his home on Thursday evening. However, the motives behind this attack are still unclear as police are still trying to catch his attacker.

“There is terrible news from Washington County this evening. It appears that Judge Andrew Wilkinson was shot multiple times and died. The police are actively searching for the murderer. Please pray for our police and for Judge Wilkinson’s family,” state Delegate Neil Parrott tweeted early this morning on X, according to CBS News.

According to ABC 7News, Washington County Deputy Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52, was found dead in his driveway after being shot multiple times around 8 p.m.

The 50-year-old was reportedly taken to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, where he died from his injuries shortly afterwards.

According to 7News, Maryland State Police would have sent their teams to other judges to ensure their protection while they waited to catch the person responsible for this attack.

According to the Maryland government website, the victim had served as an associate judge in Washington County Circuit Court since January 2020 and had worked as an assistant district attorney in Washington County between 2006 and 2012.
