Noel Gallagher looked back on Oasis’ final year.
The Mancunian group split up in 2009 following an altercation in Paris between the two Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, shortly before they performed at the Rock en Seine festival. A fight that ended with the composer’s departure from Wonderwall, the cancellation of the concert and thus the announcement of the end of the group.
“It is with some sadness and great relief that I announce that I have left Oasis this evening,” Noel Gallagher said at the time. People will write and say whatever they want, but I just couldn’t continue working with Liam another day. »
This week, the musician shared his thoughts on the band’s split. “The last tour was not a happy one. The other guy (Editor’s Note: Liam Gallagher) tries to rewrite history by saying it was all great. This was not the case, he told the Daily Star. The last year of Oasis was fucking awful. We just have one life. Why be unhappy? Whether in private or professional life, why? We’re just wasting something precious. »
Noel Gallagher’s comments came after his brother announced the 30th anniversary tour of Definitely Maybe, Oasis’ debut album, on Monday. The UK concert series, scheduled to take place in June 2024, will see Liam Gallagher celebrate the legendary 1994 album with former Oasis guitarist and co-founder Bonehead, performing in Sheffield, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin. According to a message from Liam Gallagher on X/Twitter, his brother was contacted but refused to take part in the upcoming tour.
