Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on Friday the 20th that she is separating from her partner. Andrea Giambrunowith whom he has a sevenyearold daughter, after the television journalist published comments in which he appeared to admit to another relationship.
“My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years, has ended (…) Our paths parted some time ago and it is time to recognize it,” the 46yearold prime minister wrote in a message on social media, social, along with a picture of the family.
“I thank you for the wonderful years we spent together, for the difficulties we faced and for giving me the most important thing in my life, our daughter Ginevra,” he added.

The announcement came after the publication of statements by 42yearold Giambruno, which were secretly recorded on the sidelines of his program “Diario del giorno” on the private channel Rete4.
The comments were published on Tuesday and Thursday in a satirical broadcast on the Canale 5 channel, which is also part of the Mediaset group, which is owned by the Berlusconi family.
In the recording published on Thursday, the journalist says to a colleague: “What is your name?” We met? Where did I see you? Was drunk?”
And he continues: “How are you, dear? Did you know that (name redacted) and I are having an affair? The entire Mediaset (television company) knows this, and now you know it too.”
“But we are looking for a third participant because we have a threesome. And four too. Would you like to be part of our working group?” he asks.
The statements gained traction in the Italian press and social media, putting the farright leader, who presented herself as a “Christian mother,” in an uncomfortable position.
Giambruno has been at the center of other controversies recently. In September he spoke of “transhumance” in relation to migrants and had to apologize.
On the subject of rape, the journalist said: “If you avoid getting drunk or losing consciousness, you also avoid certain problems.”
