Matt Nagy comments on Mecole Hardman’s availability for Week 7 – Chiefs Wire

The Kansas City Chiefs offense is getting a jolt from the past with the return of wide receiver Mecole Hardman. After completing a trade with the New York Jets on Wednesday, the Chiefs are focused on getting the former Pro Bowler back up to speed.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy addressed Hardman’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers during his press conference on Thursday.

“Right now I’m just going through everything and trying to figure out where we are and where he’s at,” Nagy explained. “You again [have] have to remember [that] A lot of it for him is, quote, unquote, like riding a bike and jumping back on. But you also just spent several months learning some sort of new offense and new terms.

“So it’s instant. It’s not always easy, but for someone like him who’s been here before, it’s definitely easier to come back and leave on schedule, see where he’s at physically and mentally, and then see where we are too stand with everyone else, and then try to get him involved because he can do some good things for us.”

Nagy is confident but is not making any clear statements about whether or not Hardman will be available for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“I would hope so, but we’ll have to see it again,” Nagy said. “Once we get through today’s practice,” Nagy said, “and see where things stand, coach (Andy Reid) and (Brett) Veatch can make the final decision.”

Hardman has proven to be very useful in many formations and has shown his speed. The Chiefs haven’t been particularly explosive this season, so the former Georgia Bulldog could be the kickstarter they need.
