Jordan Dumais returns to the QMJHL

Forward Jordan Dumais, the leading scorer last season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), was sent back from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday.

The petite 1.78 meter tall right winger suffered an upper body injury during training camp and remained in the National League team’s squad. Although he did well, the Montrealer failed to earn a spot and will therefore play a fourth season in the QMJHL.

At the end of the 2022–2023 season, Dumais received the Michel Brière Trophy, awarded to the player who is most useful to his team. He amassed 140 points, including 54 goals, and led his peers in most offensive categories.

The 19-year-old Montreal native was selected by the Jackets in the third round of the 2022 draft (96th overall).

Columbus also announced that it placed center Liam Foudy’s name on waivers. The 23-year-old Ontario native, who was selected 18th overall in the 2018 auction, has played just one game this year.

Foudy spent his first full season on the Bettman circuit last year. He accumulated 14 points in 62 games and maintained a -26 margin.
