The Arizona Diamondbacks evened the National League Championship Series by rallying from a deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 on Friday night at Chase Field.
The “D-Backs” picked up another narrow win after their 2-1 win the day before, but it’s the result that counts. Each team has now won two games.

The local favorites were trailing by two points in the eighth inning when Alek Thomas’ home run allowed them to tie the game. The ball just cleared the right field fence and landed in the pool, and the crowd exploded with joy.
This cannon shot paved the way for greater moments of happiness. Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll, who was hit by a pitch from Craig Kimbrel, reached the boards. Then, to the cheers of the fans, Gabriel Moreno hit a very deep single to bring a man to the plate.
Both teams employed eight pitchers each and it was Paul Sewald who was responsible for closing the tally. The 33-year-old substitute made his fifth save in these playoffs and only allowed one brace to the dangerous Kyle Schwarber, who had hit a long ball in this encounter. Sewald knocked out three opponents.
The fifth game of this series will be played on Saturday in Arizona.
