Israel has called on its citizens to immediately leave its Arab neighbors, Egypt and Jordan, for fear of reprisal attacks due to fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs today published a statement from the national security team to this effect. The alert level for countries has been raised to the highest alert level. This also includes the Sinai Peninsula, a popular tourist destination for many Israelis.
Morocco, Türkiye, Gulf States
For Morocco, as for Jordan and Egypt, the recommendation to avoid non-essential travel to that country applies. A travel warning also applies to other countries in the region, such as Turkey, as well as the Gulf states and other Muslim countries.
“In recent days there has been a significant intensification of protests against Israel in several countries, especially in the Arab states of the Middle East,” the statement said. There is also “hostility and violence against Israeli and Jewish symbols.”
