Hilarie Burton has come to Sophia Bush’s defense after Erin Foster claimed she had an affair with Chad Michael Murray during their relationship.
The 41-year-old actress took to Instagram on Friday to refute Foster’s claims.
Using the app’s Stories feature, she posted a news article about the accusation and wrote: “Ooof.” Shudder. “I got off my flight home because I noticed red eyes and several people sent me this headline.”
She added: “As the person who had a front row seat back then? That wasn’t it. We were all told you broke up, which is why our husband did too [pursuing] her. “Now this is being twisted to make my sister look like a brazen whore.”
Fiercely defending her close friend, she added: “And if she’s anyone’s whore, it’s mine!”

Burton went straight to the source of the drama when she tagged Foster in her post.
“I’m happy to talk about @erinfoster,” she wrote, adding, “You deserve the truth too.”
The note continued: “There are so many unnamed sources making claims about the woman I love, so screw it.” I will be a named source. Many internet voices are evil and who knows the true timeline? It would be ridiculous if it were so [weren’t] so hurtful.’
Foster claimed her then-boyfriend Chad cheated on her during her romantic relationship with his One Tree Hill co-star Sophia.
While speaking with her sister Sara Foster on The World’s First Podcast, the actress – who dated Murray from 2001 to 2002 – brought up the alleged affair after a fan wrote in and asked her to share dating stories.
Erin referenced a post from gossip site DeuxMoi that said Murray “apparently cheated” on her, to which she replied, “I mean, yeah. ‘He definitely cheated on me with her, in a pretty egregious way.’
She added, “While we lived together, ‘Pretty cool.’
Erin’s revelation comes amid Bush’s new romance with women’s soccer star Ashlyn Harris, 39 – whose recent ex-wife Ali Krieger apparently confirmed that Harris cheated on her with Bush before filing for divorce in mid-September.

Hilarie and Sophia have maintained a close friendship in the years since they stopped working together on One Tree Hill.
This week, Burton took to social media to share a photo of the two during the Los Angeles leg of her book tour.
In a gushing caption, she wrote: “My love @sophiabush dropped everything to host my Grimoire Girl book tour in Los Angeles for @livetalksla.” And of course, we both showed up in black velvet. She’s my Owens sister. IYKYK.’
She warmly added, “A lot of people will tell you they love you.” But when someone goes your way and shows up and ACTIVELY loves you? Keep them. Appreciate them. Protect you.
“We had a great conversation about the book, which is still available for virtual viewing. And we drank midnight margaritas, held hands and cried about where we came from and where we were going.”
The former MTV VJ concluded: “I’m so lucky to have 20 years with this woman who is on the pages of my personal grimoire.” But the next 20??? We’re just getting started. Sophia. Step in step. You and me, baby. You are so deeply good. I love you.’
Bush and Murray began dating in 2003 and tied the knot in 2005. The couple exchanged vows at a ceremony in Santa Monica before celebrating with a reception at Hotel Casa del Mar.
They separated just five months later. There were rumors at the time that Murray had cheated on his new wife with House of Wax co-star Paris Hilton.

Bush attempted to have the marriage annulled on grounds of fraud, but her efforts were unsuccessful and the divorce was finalized in 2006.
“This is a difficult and unfortunate situation.” “I’m glad the issue will be resolved sooner rather than later,” she said in a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time.
Reflecting on the relationship in 2014, she said on Watch What Happens Live, “We were two stupid kids who had absolutely no business being in a relationship.”
