More: Tri-West breaks “the curse” and throttles Danville to move forward

Turning point: Danville center Braden Shelley suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter. Shelley left the game and did not return, instead drafting a backup center in Conner Soper, who had not played since Week 4 due to a hand injury that required surgery. Danville had several muffled snaps later in the game, including three fumbles that Tri-West recovered in Warriors territory. The Bruins’ three fumble recoveries ultimately led to three touchdowns, putting Danville in a place of no return.

Course of the game: Tri-West’s Brady Hamstra, a wide receiver/defensive back who plays both sides of the ball, jumped on two of the Bruins’ three fumble recoveries after Danville’s muffed snaps. However, the game took its second swing with just three minutes remaining, allowing Tri-West to move into the winning formation with the clock running.

Player of the game: Malachi Walden. He showed up when needed and was responsible for all six of Tri-West’s touchdowns Friday night. His dual-threat style confounded Danville’s defense and allowed him to score four touchdowns. –Chloe Peterson
