The CEO of the Isaac Agree Dowtown Synagogue in Detroit, USA, was found dead with signs of stab wounds in front of her home this Saturday (21).
In a Facebook post, the synagogue expressed its sadness at the news. “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the unexpected death of our CEO Samantha Woll. We have no further information at this time but will share more as it becomes available.”
According to the local newspaper Detroit Free Press, police reported that the woman’s body was found this Saturday around 6:30 a.m. local time in the Lafayette Park neighborhood, east of the city center, where she lived.
Police also reported that Woll’s body had multiple stab wounds and that there was a trail of blood leading to her home. Local authorities believe the crime took place in the victim’s apartment.
Samantha Woll, 40, previously worked for Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and in Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s reelection campaign.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan described Woll as “one of the city’s great young leaders.”
“A few weeks ago, I shared a joyful day with Sam at the dedication of the newly renovated Downtown Synagogue,” he said, as reported by the Detroit Free Press.
“It was a project that she successfully led with great pride and enthusiasm,” he added.
According to the local publication, the victim had been running the synagogue since 2022. In addition to the organization, she was also involved in other Jewish institutions in the city.
