The history of the Palestinian cause dates back to the first Nakba in 1948, when more than 750,000 Palestinians were displaced following the establishment of the State of Israel. Since then, Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation has taken various peaceful manifestations: from art, culture, science to the resistance of thousands of civilians to leave their homes despite constant attacks by the Israeli army. A non-violent civil society resistance that extends from the Palestinian territories in the Middle East to the diaspora in exile. We examine what the non-violent struggle against the occupation of the Palestinian territories consists of and what role refugees and exiles play in the Palestinian cause.
