The country’s major supermarket chains are engaged in an online discount war, but what’s the best way to save?

Find out what Sylvain Charlebois, agri-food industry specialist at Dalhousie University, thinks.

“The banners are aimed at increasingly mobile consumers. “Customers are buying a lot more and looking for discount banners and are becoming less and less loyal,” says Mr. Charlebois.

“Many people search for information online before leaving the house, so the battle is just as virtual as it is in store. We are increasingly offering attractive discounts online,” he explains.

“We can save between 5 and 10%, which is about the same as the current food inflation rate.”
