The Michigan State University football team apologized Saturday after a photo of Adolf Hitler appeared on the stadium’s big screen.

The controversy that erupted during the audition sparked numerous reactions and forced the university to apologize.

“We are deeply sorry for the content shown and does not represent our institutional values,” said team director Matt Larson.

The photo of the former German Chancellor appeared during a quiz game at the facility.

Spectators present at the “Spartan Stadium” were invited to answer a question about Hitler’s birthplace.

The university says the content was broadcast by another company responsible for entertainment during the games.

Matt Larson confirmed that Michigan State University would no longer work with the company in question.
