AJ Brown’s big rush sets up Jalen Hurts’ 32nd career rushing TD

AJ Brown makes an incredible catch on this one, giving Jalen Hurts his 32nd career rushing TD and tying Randall Cunningham for the Eagles’ franchise QB record.

PHILADELPHIA – Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts played the second half of Sunday night’s 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins with a brace on his left leg.

No further details were given about Hurts after the game, but a source said it was believed to be a knee injury.

“I’ll be fine,” Hurts said, but when asked if it’s something that will affect him in the future, he replied, “I hope not.”

Hurts ran 11 times (including three knee downs) for 21 yards and a touchdown on Sunday while throwing for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He stormed three times in the second half.

Hurts appeared to grimace as he jogged off the field after the game. Teammates said he played in pain.

“I don’t want to publicize his deal, but he’s a tough guy,” receiver AJ Brown said.

“With our style of play, there are times when he runs away and gets caught,” right tackle Lane Johnson added. “But he’s doing a good job. He never really shows it or complains or anything.”

Hurts came out of the tunnel late in the second half, and backup Marcus Mariota warmed up on the sideline in his absence, causing some confusion about who would be under center when the offense took the field back.

However, coach Nick Sirianni said there is no doubt Hurts will continue playing.

“He played the rest of the game and played at a very high level,” Sirianni said. “I thought he played really well. Man, he’s a competitor. There is no one I would rather play quarterback. He worked his ass off tonight. He’s tough.”

Hurts had two giveaways in the game, including a pick-six, increasing his total this season to 10 – second-most in the NFL behind Desmond Ridder of the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts has thrown an interception in the last three straight games.

But he continues to put up points, and Philadelphia continues to win, improving to 6-1 on the year.

On a night when the Eagles wore the classic Kelly Green jerseys, Hurts tied Randall Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns by an Eagles quarterback (32).

“It’s crazy,” Hurts said. “It’s kind of cool to do that in your old jersey.”

When asked what lies ahead this week in terms of post-injury care, Hurts said: “Nothing too much. Just get ready for the next opponent.”
