The Jets’ head coach is temporarily leaving the team

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness has left the club indefinitely.

The 68-year-old man decided to stay at the bedside of his wife, Judy Bowness, who suffered an epileptic seizure on Sunday evening. She is currently in the hospital to find out the causes of this episode.

Associate Coach Scott Arniel will serve as the Jets’ interim coach behind the bench. Bowness has been at the helm of Winnipeg since July 2022. Last year his team managed a 46-33-3 record and made the playoffs. Their journey ended in five games against the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round.

In five games so far in the 2023-24 season, the Manitoba club has maintained a record of 2-3-0. The Jets host the St. Louis Blues at the Canada Life Center on Tuesday night. They then travel for two games, Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings and Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
