A little more than six years after a major fire that destroyed it, reconstruction of the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge in Petite-Vallée has just begun. The new theater is expected to be inaugurated in summer 2025.
In August 2017, the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge fell victim to flames, deeply saddening the community of Petite-Vallée as well as many musicians and music lovers who valued this seaside performance venue founded in 1983.
The artisans of the Village en song had launched a fundraising campaign: Autour du feu pour Petite-Vallée. This fundraiser raised more than $1.7 million in less than eight months.
This week the first shoveling work took place in Longue-Pointe in Petite-Vallée. The project is led by In situ, Architekturwerkstatt, in consortium with VRA + LPA. A press release states that the building’s concept will “play with the shapes, colors and techniques of vernacular maritime architecture to create a theater on the scale of the Petite-Vallée peak.”
There will be a press conference “in the coming weeks” at which the overall funding and the various phases of project implementation will be announced.
