President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met this Monday (23) with the American singer and composer Roger Waters, former lead singer of the band Pink Floyd.
Waters was received by Lula at the Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília. The artist will perform in the federal capital this Tuesday (24th) and used his schedule to pay a visit to the Brazilian president, with whom he has had a friendly relationship for years.
Sharing the meeting on social media, Lula recalled that Roger Waters had tried to visit him five years ago when he was imprisoned in Curitiba and was prevented from doing so by the courts.
“Five years ago, Roger Waters tried to visit me in Curitiba and was prevented from doing so. Today, when he returns to Brazil, we will meet in the presidential office at the Palácio do Planalto,” the president wrote in the caption to a photo with the musician.

Roger Waters has become the target of attacks promoted by Bolsonaro supporters in recent years due to his social activism and his public criticism of Jair Bolsonaro. During performances in Brazil, the singer has already taken shots at the former president and paid tribute to city councilor Marielle Franco, who was murdered in 2018.
