Tomorrow evening, Tuesday October 24th, Montreal trio Half Moon Run begins their North American tour at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. After popular concerts in Europe, the musicians will tour the United States and Western Canada before coming to Quebec in December.
Since the release of their last album Salt, everything seems to be going well for Half Moon Run. In a statement, Conner Molander said the band would be coming to North America after a tour of Europe “which took us somewhat by surprise.”
“On this tour we regularly walked off stage saying this concert was “one of the best ever” or something to that effect. There’s a particular sense of chance at concerts lately, often culminating in a kind of positive feedback loop. You can’t really plan something like that. We intend to continue this momentum in North America, where we have the privilege of performing in some truly wonderful venues. »
In the coming days, Half Moon Run will play in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, Brooklyn, Boston and Toronto. In December, the group will be at the MTelus in Montreal (December 13-14 and February 29), the Salle Maurice-O’Bready in Sherbrooke (December 15) and the Théâtre du Palais Municipal in Saguenay (December 17). . and the Grand Théâtre de Québec (December 18).
This week, Half Moon Run also released its cover of the song “adore u,” again by producer Fred and Nigerian singer Obongjayar. While attending the Fred Again… concert in Osheaga last summer, the members of HMR came up with the idea for this cover. “We felt like we had a glimpse of the future,” Molander said. We created “Adore You” to celebrate Fred’s creativity and to try to soak in the strong aesthetic impression he left on us for a little longer. »
