“It really wasn’t any fun!”
Jay Du Temple, The six-season host of Quebec’s most popular reality TV program, Occupation Double, was on the set of Tout le monde en parole.
The comedian and presenter particularly commented on his departure as host of the show.
“Last year, three contestants were removed from the production due to intimidation. We’ve heard about it. It displaced almost all the wars that existed on Earth at the time in Quebec. About ten sponsors had canceled the show, which caused quite a controversy (…) Were you surprised by the extent of it?” asks the presenter Guy. In Lepage.
“Yeah, but I don’t know if OD…every season there was something. So I wasn’t really surprised anymore. That’s what I found…” emphasizes the former moderator.
“Yes, but the media coverage. I mean, it was big!” adds Guy.
“Yes, but I’m still pretty reserved (…) I was also very aware that it was a storm in a teacup.” But I was in a glass of water. I was there, so I didn’t really focus on what was being said on social media or in the media. I’ve been more focused on making sure my colleagues are okay. The team being there, the candidates… it sounds really intense, but it really wasn’t any fun. It was really difficult for a lot of people there. My priority (…) was to make sure the team knew I was there for them. That they weren’t alone when they needed to talk. Then if they didn’t want to talk to me, they should find someone to talk to (…),” replies Jay.
“You said several times that that wasn’t why you left Occupation Double…” Lepage then asks.
“No,” Du Temple replies.
“So my question is: Is that why you left Occupation Double?” adds the moderator with his usual persistence and humor.
“The fascinating thing about this question is that no matter what I answer, people already have their idea (…) I announced to production and Bell in August, before I left… before the season started (…) that they were planning is.” Be my last. I had written my show, I was so happy (…) Plus it was offered to me every season during the season (…) I said to myself: I have to tell them before I go. It did. Then, strangely enough, a lot of people think that’s why I left. But every season it was never a given. I never said to myself: I always do that (…) Then when that happened, what happened is not desirable. But I said to myself: Ah, that’s why I came this year. I was happy to be there, I was happy that I was still the host. Not a new person (…) It was my sixth. I was able to take a lead that I wouldn’t have been able to take in my first race,” says Jay Du Temple candidly.
An interesting moment with Jay at TLMEP.
