Seven people were killed in a pileup involving 158 vehicles this Monday (23) in the state of Louisiana, in the southern United States. According to police, the accident was caused by a “super fog” created by the combination of fog and smoke from a vegetation fire.
At least 25 people were injured in the accident. State police said the death toll could rise as teams were still working to search for victims in the car wreckage.

The pileup occurred on a bridge connecting a highway in the New Orleans area. After the accidents, several vehicles caught fire.
Driver Clarencia Patterson Reed said she saw people waving at her to stop. But even as she responded to requests, other vehicles crashed into the back of her car.
“It was ‘boom, boom.’ You could just hear a bang for at least 30 minutes,” he said. She managed to get out of the car unharmed. Your wife injured her leg.
Governor John Bel Edwards asked for prayers “for the injured and the dead” and called on the public to donate blood.
The accident also caused traffic jams. The “super fog” dissipated over the course of the day.
