Alexandre Daigle was selected by the Ottawa Senators with the first overall pick in 1993 and presented to fans as the savior the team desperately needed.
With a five-year contract worth more than $12 million, expectations for the junior hockey star were high, even excessive. Under pressure, the charismatic Laval resident failed to perform and saved nothing at all. At the end of his contract, the ice hockey player was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers.

When Air Force One saves Sakic
Another documentary film of this kind is scheduled to appear on the Amazon platform in early 2024. This time he will focus on former Nordiques Joe Sakic, or at least on how then-Colorado Avalanche owner Charlie Lyons, thanks to the film Air Force, managed to keep him on his team by accepting the offer from New York Rangers equaled one.
As a free agent in 1997, Sakic signed an offer from the New York Rangers. Under the collective bargaining agreement at the time, the Avalanche had one week to match that offer or release Sakic in exchange for five first-round picks as compensation.

Against all odds, Lyons managed to find a lifeline in a somewhat unexpected place: Hollywood. Ultimately, it is thanks to the success and profits generated by the film “Air Force One” produced by the Avalanche’s owners that the Colorado team will finally be able to compete with what New York has to offer.
Saving Sakic will be available on Prime Video in early 2024.
