The wax statue of American star Dwayne Johnson, nicknamed “The Rock”, will be re-erected at the Grévin Museum in Paris on Wednesday morning, with a more realistic complexion that was changed within 24 hours after the actor complained about the “skin color”. the first version, Yves Delhommeau, general director of the museum, told AFP on Tuesday.

“We removed his character on Monday night. Our artisans strengthened his complexion at night and during the day,” he added. “Dwayne Johnson promised us (…) that he would stop by the museum the next time he was in Paris. Let’s have a nice glass of wine together! We can make any corrections he would like to make.”

“We worked on the character of Dwayne Johnson for more than a year, especially reproducing his very intricate tattoos. “We made do with photos because Dwayne couldn’t travel to Paris to finish his statue,” Mr. Delhommeau continued.

The actor’s character wears a short-sleeved polo shirt and dark blue pants and has Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and even Meryl Streep as neighbors.

His inclusion in the famous French wax museum was decided with the “Grévin Awards”, awarded after the vote of Internet users who were asked to nominate their favorite star.

The star, of African-American descent and from the Samoan Islands, took part in the mockery concert on Sunday around the statue in her likeness, which was unveiled by the museum in mid-October and gave her a fair complexion.

“Please note that I will be asking my team to contact our friends at the Grévin Museum in Paris, France so that we can work on “updating” my wax statue with important details and improvements – starting with the skin color.” he wrote on his Instagram account, which was followed by more than 391 million people around the world.

“You make The Rock look like David Beckham. It looks like The Rock will soon be joining the royal family. I’m a little offended,” American comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. also mocked when he spotted the first version of the statue in a video re-shared by the actor.

The Grévin Museum, which welcomes 800,000 visitors a year and features more than 250 celebrities, had already sparked controversy in 2018 when it presented what it said was a less than successful sculpture with the likeness of Emmanuel Macron.

The production of such a wax statue takes six months and costs between 50,000 and 60,000 euros.
