Mexican singer Alberto Ángel “El Cuervo” dies at the age of 73: he had cancer

Alberto Ángel “The Raven”one of the most representative singers of the Mexican region, died at the age of 73.

Singer and radio presenter Rodrigo de la Cadena was the one who announced the news on X, formerly Twitter.

“I am very sorry for the departure of my friend, colleague and teacher Alberto Ángel ‘El Cuervo’, despite the illness he never stopped having enough courage to remain active until the last day,” he wrote on the morning of this Tuesday, October 24th.

“Your wonderful voice, culture and knowledge have brought light to Mexico. RIP,” he concluded.

What is known about the death of Alberto Ángel “El Cuervo”?

Alberto Rafael Bustillos Alamilla, the singer’s real name, was born on September 1, 1950 in Veracruz.

He was a painter, poet, tenor and musicologist. According to a review by López Dóriga Digital, he holds degrees in chemistry, bacteriology and parasitology from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN).

According to Sale el sol, the artist was diagnosed with “thyroid cancer” some time ago. It is not clear whether the cause of death was due to this disease.

Those who knew him speak of him as an extremely cultured person. His time on television singing local music led him to legendary shows such as “Elstudio de Lola Beltrán” and the iconic Big Saturday with Don Francisco.

According to his biography, he recorded 120 albums and studied various arts.
