Hamas attacks from the sea, Israel responds and neutralizes the attack. At least four Hamas militants were killed in the waters off the town of Zikim on Gaza’s southern border after attempting to cross into Israel. Israeli media reported this on the grounds that there had been heavy gunfire between Israeli security forces and terrorists. An Israeli Air Force helicopter was also present at the site of the infiltration attempt.
According to spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the Israeli armed forces are looking for other possible sub-terrorists. He stressed that the Navy continues to search for other possible militants who have attempted to enter Israel by sea from the Gaza Strip.
The navy operating off the coast of Gaza City discovered the Hamas terrorist cell emerging from a tunnel into the sea. The Israeli military opened fire on Hamas divers, killing them, “and is currently in the process of ensuring that there are no cell members left at sea.”
In a statement, Hamas claimed responsibility for the sea attack and said its members clashed with Israeli forces after apparently managing to infiltrate Israel. The Israeli media speaks of 4 terrorists killed, but it cannot be ruled out that the number is higher.
