Santiago de Chile, Oct. 24 (EFE). – The American weightlifter Mary Theisen-Lappin won this Tuesday in the weightlifting over 81 kilograms and won the gold medal by lifting a total of 277 kilos, at the conclusion of the weightlifting of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games at the Chimkowe Gymnasium in Peñalolén, in the Chilean capital.
Theisen-Lappin achieved her victory after lifting 120 kilos in the snatch and 157 kilos in the clean and jerk, surpassing Ecuador’s Lisseth Ayoví, who took silver by achieving a total weight of 276 kilos (119-157) by narrow definition.
Bronze went to Dominican Crismery Santana with a total of 267 kilos, which she achieved with a snatch of 117 and a clean and jerk of 150.
Colombia dominated the weightlifting medal table with three gold medals won by Rafael Cerro, Jhonatan Rivas and Yenny Álvarez, and added three silver medals for a total of six medals. Venezuela followed with a total of five medals, two of which were gold.
