The “Family Guy” isn’t a fan of these royal archetypes.
The adult animated comedy on Fox wasn’t afraid to hurl a few insults at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in an episode that aired Sunday night.
In the series, now in its 23rd season, cartoon versions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear poolside after protagonist Peter Griffin compares himself to the royal couple while sitting in a bar with his friends.
Worried that he won’t be able to get back the money he’s owed, Griffin decides his best choice is to take on the world, just like the Royals did when they announced their plans to step down from their roles as senior members the British monarchy at the end of 2022.
“I’m going to do it alone, just like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry,” Griffin explains.
The scene shows Harry and Meghan being approached by a butler who attempts to hand Harry a stack of envelopes. “Sir, your millions from Netflix for no one knows what,” he says.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have gotten the “South Park” treatment again, this time from Seth McFarlane’s Family Guy. FOX Harry, 38, and Markle signed a multi-year, multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix in 2020 to create content for the streaming platform. ZUMAPRESS.com
The prince responds with a wave of his hand and says, “Put it with the others.” Suddenly, an alarm sounds on Meghan’s phone, prompting her to announce, “Babe, it’s time for our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.”
The clip ends with Harry seemingly expressing regret at giving up his privileged life in Britain as he proclaims: “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”
The swipe from “Family Guy,” created by writer, actor and comedian Seth MacFarlane and first aired in 1999, is a direct reference to the couple’s infamous failed $20 million Spotify deal.
“South Park” mercilessly mocked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in an episode about the exiled royals in February 2023.Comedy Central
A source familiar with the situation told The Post in June 2023 that the media company Archewell, founded by Prince Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, had not produced enough content to cover the full payout of the multi-million dollar agreement signed by the couple. Deals available in 2020.
The Sussexes’ cameo from “Family Guy” is eerily reminiscent of recent comments from Spotify CEO Bill Simmons, who called Meghan and Harry “fucking crooks.”
This isn’t the first time the couple has been a punchline at the expense of an animated series.
Just eight months earlier, Comedy Central’s long-running hit series “South Park” destroyed the royal couple in an episode titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour.”
“Family Guy” airs Sundays at 9:30 p.m. ET
