The choreographer’s ex-girlfriend, who accused Jonathan Majors of misdemeanor domestic violence in March 2023, is expected to turn himself in to the NYPD on Wednesday over a countercharge of assault filed against her by the Marvel actor, multiple sources have confirmed to Insider.
Majors’ latest allegations against Grace Jabbari, 30, and Jabbari’s original case against Majors both stem from their midnight argument in March on a street corner in Manhattan’s Chinatown.
Jabbari has alleged to NYPD and Manhattan prosecutors that Majors twisted and broke her finger during the fight and bloodied her ear by punching her in the head.
Majors later countered in a police complaint in June that Jabbari was the attacker and that videos on the sidewalk and in the nightclub showed she was unharmed in the hours after the argument. Majors claims Jabbari scratched and stole from him that night and then injured himself in a fall in his penthouse apartment alone.
News of Jabbari’s impending arrest comes on the eve of a court hearing Wednesday morning in Manhattan, where defense attorneys and prosecutors may argue over the actor’s claims that the Manhattan district attorney’s office “buried” an NYPD investigation into his girlfriend’s violent behavior that night. of spitting.
Prosecutors failed to provide the defense with evidence in the case against Jabbari “despite being aware of the NYPD’s investigation into Jabbari’s criminal conduct as well as an I-card and wanted flyer,” Major’s attorney Priya Chaudhry wrote in her motion. to dismiss the case.
An “I-Card” refers to an internal NYPD notification that the individual is being investigated or wanted in connection with a crime.
Additionally, Majors’ attorney claimed that prosecutors turned a blind eye to Jabbari’s theft of Majors’ “vintage Rolex watch and other luxury items valued at $6,000 to $7,000,” as stated in Majors’ June police complaint against his Ex described.
In an email now in Majors’ file, Manhattan District Attorney Erin Tierney made it clear to Majors’ attorney, Chaudhry, that the DA’s office would not prosecute Jabbari even if the NYPD charged him would raise against them.
“We intend to decline to prosecute NYPD charges against Ms. Grace Jabbari in connection with Jonathan Majors’ allegations regarding the March 23, 2023 incident,” Tierney wrote in an email now in the September filing .
The Manhattan district attorney’s office did not explain why it would not pursue charges against Jabbari.
Jabbari, a British citizen, met Majors, 33, while he was working as a movement trainer on the set of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.”
She had planned to turn herself in on Tuesday at the 10th Precinct station building in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, two sources familiar with the plans said, adding that a days-long negotiation for her surrender collapsed on Tuesday.
She is now expected to turn herself in at the station sometime on Wednesday and be released without having to undergo a formal “check-in,” meaning she will not be fingerprinted and will not be held for longer than the minimum time, necessary to give her a citation citing her charges – criminal coercion and assault, the sources said.
A new, important detail about the March dispute was also revealed in the prosecution’s latest filing. It is understood the dispute arose after Jabbari discovered a lewd text message from another woman on Majors’ phone as they drove through Lower Manhattan in a livery car.
The new filing shows the text said, “I wish I kissed you now.”
The woman who sent the text message was not identified; It is not known whether she was actress Meagan Good, who accompanied Majors to his last two in-person court appearances.
In their latest filing, prosecutors also attacked one of Majors’ key defense witnesses, the driver of the car who witnessed much of the argument.
The Majors side said the unidentified driver described Jabbari to defense attorneys as a “psychic girl” who was the main aggressor in the fight.
In the new filing, prosecutors alleged that the driver was suffering from his own domestic problems. He told prosecutors that “Ms. Jabbari behaved like his wife when she was angry with him,” the filing said.
