These are the worst cities to live in when you’re in your 20s – where do you rank?

A TikToker’s unofficial ranking of cities a TikToker hates has sparked controversy after he called Nashville the worst place to live as a 20-year-old in a recent video.

“As someone who lived in almost every major US city in my 20s, here are the three worst cities to live in in the US,” Taylor Offer, the CEO of clothing brand Feat, said in a recent viral post Clip with 3 million views.

He argued that Miami was undesirable due to its humid weather and high cost of living and ranked it third. He also complained about the humidity and felt “so bad” because he had so many expensive clubs and restaurants nearby.

Ironically, the Florida city ranked seventh on WalletHub’s list of the best places to start a career and sixth in Resonance Consultancy’s “America’s Best Cities” catalog, which crowned New York City number one.

“I know this is a shock to a lot of people,” he said. “Miami is great fun for a weekend. If you go there you’ll think, ‘This is great,’ but if you live there you’ll hate it.”

The runner-up for worst on Offer’s list is San Francisco – despite its fourth place in the America’s Best Cities index – which he simply described as “horrible” and “an entire city.”

“Rent is extremely expensive, the ratio of guys to girls is exactly like 12 guys to a girl – which sucks – in every bar, every club you go to,” he griped. “You pay thousands of dollars in rent no matter where you are, and every morning you have fresh human feces on your doorstep.”

Not to mention: “You can’t have a car” otherwise people will break in, and yet the city is not within walking distance due to the “hills”, so Uber.

According to Offer, Nashville is the worst city to live in as a 20-something – bachelorette parties be damned.

“There is no healthy food, everything is fried, so you immediately gain 20 pounds,” Offer complained. “They don’t believe in salads there.”

Then there’s the excessive consumption of beer, which he says will make residents feel “disgusting”; the southern summers, which are “disgustingly hot and humid”; and how “racist and backwards” the city is.

But Offer’s open resistance to the trio of cities angered residents and sparked heated debate in the comments.

While some people disagreed with Offer’s comments, former residents or visitors to the three major cities said he was “so right” and many endorsed living in Chicago.

“As someone who lives in Nashville in my 20s…you are wrong,” one user argued.

“I live in San Francisco in my 20s, have a car that has never been broken into, and never drive Ubers,” wrote another skeptic.

“SF isn’t hilly everywhere, there are definitely walkable areas. “It’s a great city, I don’t like this negativity on SF,” another agreed.

“Not sure if you’ve been to Nashville lately lol,” one viewer chirped.

“Miami is great fun for a weekend. If you go there you’ll think, ‘This is great,’ but if you live there you’ll hate it,” said Offer.Mariakray – stock.adobe.com

“I don’t agree, spent seven years in Miami Beach and had a lot of fun, especially the bars are great!” another commented.

In a subsequent clip, Offer named New York City, Austin, Texas and Los Angeles as the best cities to live in as a 20-year-old.
