Individual awards in the CFL: Here are the Alouettes players in the running

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced its teams’ MVP players on Wednesday.

Spectacular pass catcher Austin Mack was voted MVP of the Montreal Alouettes. In his first year in professional sports, the 26-year-old athlete caught 78 passes for 1,154 yards and crossed the goal line four times. The Ohio State University graduate has surpassed 100 yards rushing five times in 16 games this season.

Quebecer Marc-Antoine Dequoy is the Canadian player par excellence for the Als. The Marauder was unanimously selected for this award. The Université de Montréal Carabins product ranks second in the CFL with five interceptions, two of which he converted into touchdowns.

Dequoy’s teammate at the Bleus, Pier-Olivier Lestage, is the Alouettes’ best player on offense. Linebacker Tyrice Beverette (outstanding defensive player), kicker Joseph Zema (outstanding special teams player) and defensive back Reggie Stubblefield (outstanding rookie) are the other “Sparrows” winners.

All nominated players will now advance to the next round of voting, which will determine each section’s nominees for the 2023 CFL Gala.
