Ex-Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley is putting her four-bed family home on the market for £875,000 – weeks after the ‘Cakegate’ scandal which saw her offer free food from a bakery in exchange for ‘advertising’ on social media

Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has put her luxury home on the market – just weeks after she was embroiled in her infamous Cakegate scandal.

The actress and her husband Tom Pitfield are asking £875,000 for their immaculately presented four-bedroom family home on a quiet, tree-lined cul-de-sac in Greater Manchester.

Pictures from estate agents show the “stunning” interior of the former Strictly contestant’s house, which has recently had a single-storey extension built at the rear.

She has not disclosed her reasons for selling the mortgage property or her future plans.

Land registry records show Tyldesley and her husband, a former fitness trainer, paid £500,000 for their home in May 2016.

The couple, who have two children, received planning permission in May 2020 to demolish a detached garage at the rear of their property and build a single-storey rear extension with a partially glazed roof and convert a garage at the front into a living space.

Estate agent details describe the extended home, with a largely open-plan ground floor, as a “stunning” and “beautifully designed” family home, finished to a “high specification”.

The home features a 36ft open plan eat-in kitchen with integrated appliances, a breakfast bar, skylights and French doors to the rear garden.

The living room features a “bay window and media wall” and there is also a study on the main floor.

The home also features electric security gates with video intercom, ample off-street parking in the driveway and a front lawn.

The rear garden is “enclosed with mature hedges and fencing to ensure privacy” and consists mainly of lawns with a patio area and “plenty of space for garden furniture”.

The latest accounts for Tyldesley’s company Dreambig Productions show that as of July 2022 it had current assets of £115,357 but owed £115,252 to creditors, meaning total net assets were just £112 – compared to £572 in 2021.

The company’s liabilities could include wages or money owed to Tyldesley, as well as possible debts.

The company’s latest filings with Companies House show it changed its name to TP Media Group last Friday, with the initials indicating greater involvement from her husband and co-director Tom Pitfield.

Her move was announced today after she made unwelcome headlines in August for asking a bakery to provide free cakes for her planned 40th birthday party.

Leeds-based party planning company NVRLND, which organized the party, had asked bakery Three Little Birds to supply a birthday cake, 100 cupcakes for a “well-known” celebrity’s party and a smaller cake for her husband.

The bakery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, was told payment would come in the form of “advertising” on the unidentified celebrity’s social media accounts, along with publication in OK magazine.

Rebecca Severs, owner of the bakery, responded via email with a tongue-in-cheek response: “I’m so sorry to hear that your customer has fallen on such hard times that he can’t afford to pay small businesses for their products .”

“Unfortunately, since my mortgage lender does not accept payments in the form of advertising on their social networks and my employees cannot provide their children with an Instagram presence, I must decline your very generous offer.”

She posted a screenshot of the email exchange on Facebook with the message: “This poor celebrity apparently can’t afford to pay people for her products and services.” Spare yourself a thought! What happened to women supporting women?’

Ms Severs followed her post with another, saying she had been threatened with legal action by the event company “in response to this post, which she believes promotes a defamation of her company”.

Tyldesley was quickly revealed as the celebrity who would have received the cakes.

She hit back by posting a video message filmed in her car, insisting she knew nothing about the email request for the free cakes and denouncing the bakery owner for trying to promote her business make.

Tyldesley said in her video: “Absolutely bizarre.” I don’t really know what to say. I mean, I hope the cake lady gets the attention she wanted. Cakegate! WHAT!

“So I had no idea these emails were sent.” I don’t work with the lovely OK magazine on anything that I know of, and NVRLND is a great company.

“They have provided me with artists in the past. “You are crazy and have been completely misrepresented on this matter.”

The star, who played Eva Price in Coronation Street from 2011 to 2018, later canceled her party in September, which was due to be attended by a number of celebrities.

Following the scandal, she shared a meme featuring an exhausted-looking Barbie doll with disheveled hair, smeared makeup and panda eyes, along with the caption: “Trying to work, go to the gym, stay hydrated, not.” being broke, having a social life and sleeping eight hours every night.”

The actress posted a message agreeing to the meme’s joke about the difficulties women juggle financial pressures, work and family life with the single word “Yup.”
