Friends and family of actor Erik Jensen, known for roles in “The Walking Dead” and “Mr. Robot” seek support while he is treated for cancer.
According to a GoFundMe page created by his family last week, “Our beloved Erik Jensen has just been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer after miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm a year and a half ago.”
It states that Jensen’s cancer “has metastasized to his liver” but that the actor is “young and strong” and has even worked as a director and writer throughout his treatment.
“His doctors believe they have a chance of shrinking the tumors enough that they can do two very major surgeries and remove them all. He can do it. But Erik and his family are facing the fight of their lives and they need your support,” it said.
The family hopes to raise a total of $300,000 and also notes that after Jensen’s aneurysm and cancer diagnosis and the Hollywood strikes, his family is now “in an extremely precarious financial position and needs a lot of help to get to the next level.” “To get through the year,” pay for treatment to fight his cancer, keep her home, and provide some stability for Sadie.”
According to the GoFundMe page, they have raised over $90,000 as of Wednesday.
“The Walking Dead” executive producer Scott Gimple posted a link to Jensen’s fundraising page along with a message on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. Write“One of TWD’s employees could use some help. With Erik Jensen, who is in S5 Dr. Steven Edwards has just been diagnosed with cancer and it is a time of great uncertainty for him and his family.”
“I’ve never had the opportunity to work with Erik…at least until now. I’ve just heard a lot about what a great guy he is. I know he and his friends could use some help… “Any kind of help,” said Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who also starred in “The Walking Dead.” wrote on X on Tuesday.
Jensen is a father to 13-year-old daughter Sadie, whom he shares with his wife Jessica Blank.
“He is one of the hardest-working, loving, honest and dedicated people we know. He needs to help his daughter grow up,” the GoFundMe says. “He must remain true to the beautiful community he and Jess have built. And he has a lot more art to create in the world.”
Jensen’s other TV credits include For Life, The Equalizer and Mindhunter.
