NFL: Bad news for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers, one of the NFL’s dominant teams this season, could be without their starting quarterback in their next game.

On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Brock Purdy had been placed in the concussion protocol.

The pilot said his player showed symptoms on the flight home after Monday night’s game against the Vikings in Minnesota. The Niners lost this duel 22 to 17. It was the second defeat in a row for the club, which had triumphed in its first five games.

If Purdy is unable to play against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, Sam Darnold should start behind center for the 49ers.

Purdy is currently playing his second season on the Goodell circuit after defying the odds last year. The newest pick in the 2022 draft was sent into play in Week 13 of 2022 after Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance were in action. He then celebrated eight consecutive wins until the Philadelphia Eagles ended his fairytale.

That year, Purdy completed 67.9% of the passes he attempted for 1,668 yards and 11 touchdowns. In addition, he was only the victim of three thefts.
