Jonathan Munger had it all planned at the Videotron Center on Tuesday: He had a ring and asked a security guard for permission to get on the floor, kneel in front of his Mélodie to propose to her in front of thousands of people as Shania Twain sang From this point.
What he didn’t expect was that his romantic coup would attract the attention of the Queen of Country Pop’s team.
A few moments later, Jonathan and Mélodie Gagnon were on stage with Shania Twain, too happy to present the future bride and groom to their admirers.
“It’s very touching,” the star said after taking a photo with the couple and singing part of their song with them.
“I was a little shocked,” admits Jonathan Munger, with whom Le Journal spoke on Thursday morning.
“What’s fun,” he adds, “is that Shania has been Mélodie’s idol since she was really little.” She was speechless.”

Residents of Saint-Honoré in Saguenay, Jonathan Munger, 32, and Mélodie Gagnon, 29, have only been together for a year. “We fell in love at first sight,” he says.
He is an industrial mechanic, she is self-employed, and they both have two children from previous relationships.
