Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan will serve a prison sentence after pleading guilty to domestic violence following his arrest

Zachery Ty Bryan will spend seven days in jail and 36 months on probation following his July 28 arrest on fourth-degree assault charges.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 42-year-old Home Improvement alum pleaded guilty in an Oregon court to fourth-degree aggravated assault constituting domestic violence.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a second charge was dismissed as part of a negotiated settlement, and instead of him spending “19 to 20 months” in the Oregon Department of Corrections, he received a “downward disposition” to three years of supervised probation and just a week in jail.

Bryan must also “comply with a number of conditions typical of domestic violence cases,” including “no contact with the victim without the consent of the probation officer, alcohol and drug abuse treatment, and no future alcohol and drug use.”

‘Mister. “Bryan decided to accept this resolution and admit that he recklessly inflicted physical injuries on his domestic partner in order to avoid further trauma to his family so that they could move on and heal,” Lane County Assistant District Attorney Chris Parosa said in a statement Statement to THR.

If he violates the terms of his probation, the actor “will have to serve 19 to 20 months in prison, which the court suspended as part of the deal.”

While discussing his client’s guilty plea, Bryan’s attorney told The Wrap, “He believes this is the best way he can resolve the issue to avoid further trauma to his family.”

In photos obtained by , Bryan appeared to arrive at the Lane County Courthouse wearing a blue sweatshirt and red baseball cap.

He tried to remain inconspicuous as he walked through the courthouse with a coffee cup, his head bowed and carrying a bulky black backpack.

At times he wore a blue surgical mask that covered most of his face.

Over the summer, he was arrested in Eugene, Oregon, on fourth-degree assault charges for being physically involved with a woman whose name was not released by authorities.

Bryan was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor: assault, robbery and harassment in connection with the July incident.

In October 2020, Bryan was arrested on charges that he assaulted and strangled his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and in February 2021, he pleaded guilty to two domestic violence charges in connection with the incident.

Cartwright, who got engaged to the actor in November 2021, has three young children with him: one-year-old daughter Kennedy and five-month-old twins Parker and Sequoia.

Cartwright told US Weekly in a statement in August, “I ask everyone to respect our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so that the healing process can begin.”

“I always want the best for the father of my children,” Cartwright told the Bryan publication, adding that “trauma can lead to struggles in many shapes and forms,” while also giving her perspective on the coverage of the youngest incident occurred.

“It’s a terrible situation that’s going to get twisted in so many ways,” she said. “I have learned firsthand that the truth will never match what is being put out there.”

The latest indictment appears to indicate that he is accused of assaulting someone who had previously obtained a domestic violence restraining order, although the alleged victim has not yet been named.

Members of the Eugene Police Department told TMZ that police received a call about a physical altercation between a man and a woman at a local residence.

However, when officers responded to the scene, Bryan was nowhere to be found.

However, they reportedly managed to track him down and he was taken to jail and charged with assault.

It remains unclear whether his fiancée Cartwright, who was the target of his attack in 2020, was also a victim of the latest alleged altercation.

Bryan’s latest alleged domestic violence incident came just a month after he claimed his previous arrest in 2020 was a “wake-up call” as he tried to rebuild his life.

The former child star claimed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the physical altercation began in October of that year because his then-girlfriend Johnnie Faye Cartwright was upset that he was “leading a double life” and was still married – even despite his divorce announced two weeks earlier.

He later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of menacing and fourth-degree assault and was sentenced to three years probation and to participate in a violence intervention program. He was also ordered to have no further contact with the victim.

Bryan said he is now trying to stay away from alcohol and that he and Cartwright are still together and now raising their children.

Bryan rose to national fame in the 1990s as the eldest child on the series “Home Improvement,” which also starred Tim Allen and future teen heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

After the series ended in 1999, Bryan turned to film roles and landed guest appearances on television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boston Public and Veronica Mars.

He then became an executive producer of independent films and married his high school sweetheart, Carly Matros, in 2007.

They had four children, whom they raised together in a million-dollar home in Newport Beach, California. The youngest, a son, was born in March 2019, joining three daughters – including a set of twins.

In recent years, Bryan has made a name for himself as a conservative commentator on platforms such as FOX News and The Daily Wire.

In September 2020, Bryan announced that he and Matros were divorcing — and in a ridiculous twist, he appeared to have plagiarized Armie Hammer’s divorce announcement almost verbatim.

Now he admits to The Hollywood Reporter: “I was just in party mode – making movies, traveling, drinking.” I didn’t live the way I was raised, you know what I mean?

“I wasn’t a faithful husband and I wasn’t my best,” he continued. “I thought I could go out and do whatever I wanted, have fun, come home and be a family man with my kids.” “That’s not how the real world works.”

Just 16 days after announcing their divorce, in October 2020, Bryan was arrested in Oregon and charged with strangulation, fourth-degree assault, coercion, threats, harassment and obstructing the filing of a police report.

The most serious charges, including felony strangulation, were later dropped and he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors.

The court also ordered him not to “purchase, possess or consume alcoholic beverages” or be in places where alcohol is primarily sold or served.

It was his second arrest of 2020 after he was charged with drunken driving in May. He also pleaded guilty in that case and was sentenced to five years probation and 18 months in a multiple offender alcohol program, as there were other arrests for driving under the influence in 2004, 2007 and 2017.

According to Oregon police records obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Cartwright claimed that Bryan, with whom she had been in a “sexually intimate” relationship for two years, woke her up on the night of the alleged assault and demanded to know what happened to his Mobile phone charging cable.

She claimed he “pulled her hair” and punched her in the face several times.

The two then fell onto a staircase, whereupon Bryan “grabbed Cartwright by the neck with both hands and choked her for approximately 45 seconds,” according to the police report.

Responding officers said they saw multiple injuries on Cartwright, who claimed Bryan had been abusive a month earlier. But Bryan claimed Cartwright woke him up and bit him in the groin.

He claimed she inflicted her injuries on herself to set him up because she wanted to “ruin his career” after he said he wanted to break up and stop paying her rent.

“I heard her tell the dispatcher, ‘That’s the guy from Home Improvement. He’s the famous guy,” Bryan reportedly told officers at the scene.

Looking back, he says the arrest was “blown out of proportion” by the media and claims it wasn’t as physically violent as the police report states.

He explained that he and Cartwright started dating while he was still married and that there were times when she was upset about his “double life.”

And despite announcing his divorce, Bryan claimed the argument escalated that night because they both “drank too much.”

“We weren’t even really physically examined,” he said. “We got really loud. We screamed and because we were in a townhouse that had done it [thin walls]everyone could hear it.’

He went on to tell Cartwright: “I was really upset about my situation at the time.”

And he claimed: “At the end of the day [the police] is throwing a bunch of charges at you because ultimately they want you to plead something,” noting that police called him “Country Club Zach” and seemed to make fun of his fame.

“I could have fought it…but this is more stress and drama,” Bryan explained. “I got two misdemeanors and quit.”

But he said he now thanks God for his arrest, describing it as a “wake-up call.”

“I went through a situation that I think a lot of people around the world go through with their partners, and it was a learning experience,” Bryan said.

He admitted he “absolutely is.” [has] “a problem with drinking,” but doesn’t believe the term “alcoholic” applies to him.

“Dude, I started drinking when I was 14,” he said. “Back then I would go to nightclubs and they would just let me in because I was the boy from Home Improvement.”

Now, he says, he’s trying to stay away from alcohol, explaining, “I don’t go out and light up, and that takes away a lot of my problems.”

He and Cartwright were together before his last arrest.

In November 2021, just a year after his arrest, Bryan announced that he and Cartwright were engaged.

Based on the timeline of his now-private Instagram account, The Hollywood Reporter discovered that Cartwright was already pregnant with a girl at the time.

He announced the birth on the social media platform in spring 2022.

In November of this year, Bryan also announced that he and Cartwright were expecting twins and that she gave birth in May.

But the actor/producer continues to face criticism from some who consider him one of their closest friends.

In 2018, they explain, Bryan partnered with Producers Market, an ag-tech startup focused on farmers and the global food chain.

The company’s goal was to empower farmers by eliminating the middleman and investing profits more directly into their tokens using a QR code that allowed them to tip farmers.

It explored using tokens to fund growth and brought in Bryan – who made millions in the early days of Bitcoin – as an advisor to help build relationships within the crypto community.

He then invested the money in the company and encouraged others to do the same.

But plans for a token system never came to fruition and in 2019 the company officially decided to end Bryan’s role as an advisor.

Just a year later, executives learned that Bryan was selling the non-existent tokens to other investors.

‘Mister. “Bryan misrepresented our company without our knowledge, involvement or permission,” a spokesman said. “When we found out about this, we immediately issued a cease and desist order to him.

“This activity is unacceptable and does not reflect our mission to support the well-being of farmers and our food systems.”

But Bryan denies he “made a shady fraud deal – that’s just not me.”

“What people don’t understand is that you take risks, nothing is certain,” he said, promising that if the company ever goes public, he will personally distribute his Producers Market shares to those who still do waiting for their money.
