The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on a social network that it had killed Shadi Barud, who Israelis said was one of the men who planned the terrorist attacks against Israel in which 1,400 people were murdered and about 220 were kidnapped.
According to the Israel Defense Forces text, Barud was Hamas’ deputy intelligence director that is, he was one of the heads of the sector that collects intelligence on Hamas’s enemies. He is said to have planned the attack together with Yahya Sinwas, a leader of the terrorist group.
The Israeli Armed Forces had previously claimed to have carried out concrete land operations in the north of the Gaza Strip in the early hours of this Monday (23). Iraqi authorities reported that the operations targeted areas where members of the terrorist group Hamas and other Palestinian armed organizations were gathering.
There were attacks by tanks and infantry troops attempting to locate and obtain information about missing persons and hostages held by Hamas. However, according to initial information, this is not the occupation of land that the Israeli government has been announcing since the war began on October 7th, triggered by an attack by the terrorist group on Israeli territory (read details below).
According to the BBC, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari spoke this Monday about the recent actions in the Gaza Strip:
“During the night there were attacks by tanks and infantry troops. These attacks are attacks that kill terrorist squads that are preparing for the next phase of the war. On Sunday, Hamas forces said that attacks had been detected east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip and that Israeli soldiers had exceeded the fence by “several meters,” according to the BBC. The offensive came hours after Israel renewed calls for Gazans to move to the south of the territory. According to the Israeli army, one of the leaders of Hamas and dozens of terrorists were killed in these night actions in Gaza.
