Several Lewiston businesses remain closed as the search for the killer continues

Many businesses remained closed Thursday in Lewiston, Maine, where authorities are still searching for the perpetrator of a murder that left 18 people dead and 13 injured Wednesday evening.

On X (formerly Twitter), TD Bank stated that all 39 branches in Maine would remain closed “until further notice.”

“The safety of our customers, our colleagues and the community is our top priority at this time,” TD wrote on X. “Our thoughts are with our colleagues in Maine and the entire Lewiston community.”

Couche-Tard

For its part, Alimentation Couche-Tard has six Circle K gas stations in the Lewiston area. The Journal contacted the Quebec company on Thursday to find out how it is adapting to the situation, but did not receive a response. Ontario coffee chain Tim Hortons also has a presence in Maine.

American retailer LL Bean, headquartered in Maine, has closed all of its facilities in the state, according to CNN.
