Several injured in series of collisions on Henri-IV highway –

At least five people were reportedly injured in a series of three collisions at Kilometer 11 between Avenue Industrielle and Rue de Montolieu in Quebec late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the back-to-back accidents involving four vehicles occurred around 5:45 p.m.

According to preliminary information, a minivan traveling northbound left the lane and collided with a car traveling south, explains Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the SQ.

After the impact, the car would have crossed into the oncoming lane – i.e. northbound – and collided with another car heading north.

The minivan resulting from the initial collision would have been disabled and would have struck a van that was traveling southbound, the sergeant continued.

According to an initial report from the SQ, five people were injured.

They were all taken to hospital, but we have no information on the severity of their injuries, claims Sergeant St-Pierre.

A police reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene of the accident to determine the causes and circumstances of all these collisions.

The road is closed in both directions, causing delays.

More details to follow.
