The Ottawa Senators will be without defenseman Thomas Chabot for a period of four to six weeks.
Head coach DJ Smith made the announcement on Friday, stating that his skater was suffering from a broken hand. He inflicted this injury on himself by blocking a throw.

Chabot had taken part in all “Sens” duels so far this season. In seven games, he collected three assists and maintained a -1 lead.
The loss of the Quebecer is another blow to the Ottawa team, which will also be without the services of guards Erik Brannstrom and Artem Zub.
The former had to leave Thursday night’s game against the Islanders in New York on a stretcher. Midway through the second period, he was tackled by Cal Clutterbuck and hit his head.
The sophomore has missed the Senators’ last three games after being hit near the ear by a shot from Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin.
The Sens will return to action Saturday night with a visit to the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
