The Marxist Communist Party of India calls for an event in support of Palestine

As part of the demonstration, members of the Central Committee and its Politburo will stage a sit-in this Sunday in one of the main arteries of the capital New Delhi, according to social networks.

In a joint statement with the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Marxist-oriented political organization expressed dissatisfaction over its country’s abstention from voting on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly on a resolution tabled by Jordan calling for Israel’s immediate ceasefire against the Palestinians. Both groups affirmed that India has stood unconditionally with Palestine in the past and also called for compliance with the resolution, which was adopted with 120 votes in favour, 14 against and 45 abstentions.

The document, signed by general secretaries D. Raja of the CPI and Sitaram Yechury of the CPI (M), also invokes previous UN regulations as a solution that envisaged the creation of two independent and sovereign states.

They also denounced Israel’s disregard for the decisions of the international organization, saying that after the document was approved, the Zionist government attacked Gaza with further attacks and cut off all communications in the coastal enclave.

With a similar claim, the All India Advance Bloc (AIFB) also issued a statement this Saturday signed by its General Secretary G. DEVARAJAN to express its absolute solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for survival and self-determination . .

The progressive party also condemned and called for an end to interference in the region by the United States and its allies, which it said renders the decisions of the United Nations irrelevant.

On the other hand, the solidarity group Friends of Palestine, in a statement after a peaceful protest, confirmed its call for an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of the siege on Gaza and international intervention to stop the brutal killing of Palestinians, including children and women.

We call for the termination of all India’s relations with Israel and call on the global community to put pressure on Tel Aviv to respect international laws, the document said.

Friends of Palestine also called on the Indian government to actively contribute to the liberation and statehood of Palestine as it is in the national interest and promotes India to a position of global justice.

According to Deputy Permanent Representative and Ambassador Yojna Patel, India abstained from the UN vote on the resolution on protecting civilians and fulfilling legal and humanitarian obligations because it did not mention condemnation of the Hamas attack on Tel Aviv on October 7 became.

The diplomat also expressed her appreciation for the international community’s efforts to reduce tensions and provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, as her country did, she recalled.
