Ryan Bader Reveals Which Family Member Of Cain Velasquez Was Allegedly Assaulted

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was denied bail on Monday and will remain in custody until at least April 12 on charges of attempting to kill a man accused of molesting one of Velasquez’s family members.

Until Tuesday, details about the alleged child victim and Velasquez family member were vague. Some reports said it was a “close relative”. Others have described them as “close family members”.

On Tuesday, Velasquez’s longtime friend and former Arizona State University wrestling teammate Ryan Bader revealed the identity of a Velasquez family member in a social media post.

“Many of you know that Cain is currently in prison and has been denied bail. Cliff notes that he went after a man who molested his 4-year-old son. The 43-year-old man was immediately released without bail and was able to return home. Cain took justice into his own hands, and although this is not the smartest decision, any father would have done the same, ”Bader wrote.

Bader posted a link to help the Velasquez family where donations can be made. Earlier this week, GoFundMe removed two fundraising campaigns for Cain’s legal defense. “GoFundMe prohibits raising money for the legal defense of violent crime,” a GoFundMe spokesperson told MMAJunkie.

Velasquez was arrested on February 28 after allegedly crashing his car into and shooting another car in an attempt to kill 43-year-old Harry Goulart. Goulart’s stepfather was hit in the arm by a bullet.

Velasquez is due back in court on April 12. He faces several charges. Velazquez faces one count of attempted murder, including shooting at a car or aircraft (one count), assault with a firearm (three counts), assault with a deadly weapon (three counts), and intentionally firing a firearm from a vehicle (one item). ) and carrying a loaded firearm with the intent to commit a crime (one count). If Velasquez is found guilty of only attempted murder, he faces at least 20 years in prison.

“It will help his family in the difficult times ahead. Cain is an amazing person who made a mistake after an absolutely terrible crime was committed on his child. Please share and everything will help,” wrote Bader.
