Disney+: The formula with advertising attracts subscribers, soon in France – 01net

Big price drop at Disney+ from November 1st! In France, the streaming platform will actually completely review its offer and add a formula with advertising.

Disney+ is diversifying its subscription offering: The single formula for €8.99 will expire on November 1st and will be replaced by three price levels. The “Standard” plan keeps this price (€8.99 per month or €89.90 per year) but doesn’t have the same benefits: no more 4K and Dolby Atmos, you have to settle for 1080p and 5.1!

Ads to pay less

To get the best possible picture and sound quality, you must subscribe to the “Premium” offer for €11.99 (or €119.90 per year). The service says that existing subscribers will switch to this new, more expensive offer: caution is therefore advised not to pay much more than usual. Fortunately, it is possible to change the subscription.

Disney+ will also launch in France a “Standard with advertising” subscription for €5.99 per month. It includes the same technical services as the “Standard” formula, with the exception of downloads. This offer, modeled on Netflix, was launched in the USA last December with obviously great success.

Disney+ is increasing its prices in France for Christmas

Disney explains that half of new subscribers opted for the ad tier. Obviously, such a price is not innocent: it is about attracting as many users as possible to this subscription, which represents a new source of income for the company, very interesting from a financial perspective. This is the same strategy that Netflix is pursuing, and the feedback seems to be completely satisfactory (at least for the company’s coffers).

As Christmas and the consumer madness that comes with it approaches, Disney+ is also hoping to attract additional advertisers with new advertising formats (ads can now be between 15 and 90 seconds long) and the ability to sponsor content. And to boost recruitment, the service will also look into sharing connection identifiers, which will launch in Canada next week. Before the rest of the world?
