Entire buildings are in ruins, roads are blocked and thousands of houses are in ruins.

The images of the destruction of the Gaza Strip reflect the scale of the Israeli response to the Hamas attacks against Israel on October 7th.

Hamas’ offensive on land, air and sea left more than 1,400 people dead and more than 200 people held hostage in Gaza.

Authorities in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, said the Israeli bombings left more than 7,000 dead and hundreds of thousands displaced. According to the United Nations, there are shortages of food, water, medicine and fuel across the strip.

Around 2.3 million people live in Gaza, which has been controlled by Hamas since 2007, making it a densely populated place.

Below are some satellite images showing the before and after at three key points in Palestinian territory after Israeli bombing began.

Despite the destruction, there is still no clarity about how and when this war might end.

While more than 200 Israeli hostages remain in the hands of Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is intensifying its attacks on Gaza, with hundreds of thousands of soldiers concentrated on the border.

Communications in Gaza are disrupted, making it difficult to know what is happening.

After promising a land invasion, Israel carried out targeted attacks within the Strip.

Israel’s goal is to permanently destroy Hamas’ military and political structures.

However, many analysts question the viability of the plan given Hamas’ track record in renewing both its commanders and its weapons.
