The Rolling Stones tribute is part of the iconic band releasing their first original album in 18 years on October 20th.
Hackney Diamonds is the band’s twenty-fourth studio album and went straight to number one – the eleventh time the band has achieved this feat.
The tongue and lips logo, also called the Hot Lips logo, was designed for the Rolling Stones in 1970 by English art designer John Pasche.
Following the release of their classic album Sticky Fingers in April 1971, which marked their first public appearance, the logo quickly became associated with the band.
The Rolling Stones logo has consistently adorned every album cover since then, including various versions made for special releases and notable performances.
The emblem now serves as a symbol for the band’s distinctive look, stage presence and merchandising.
Of the design, John said: “I think it’s the way kids stick their tongues out at people.”
I think it’s really a mindset that kind of suited them. It just worked for them, it just felt right when I did it.
It was made in the style of the 1970s. It’s kind of lush, it’s quite soft, it’s quite feminine. “In a way, it’s a gentle protest.”
