IKEA has announced the availability of the PARASOLL and VALLHORN motion detectors at Availability of the PARASOLL open/close detector and the VALLHORN motion detector. These new smart home devices, first mentioned in FCC filings earlier this year, will launch in Denmark in January. With the PARASOLL sensor you can detect whether windows or doors are open and thus secure your home.
The VALLHORN motion sensor can trigger smart lights that can be useful at night or reduce your energy consumption. Both sensors must be connected to the DIRIGERA hub to enable controls and notifications via the IKEA Home Smart app. This means you can also link the gadgets to other smart home devices via Google Home, Amazon Alexa or Apple HomeKit. The products have a minimalist design with rounded edges and a simple white housing. IKEA says it intentionally designed the sensors to blend into your interior and therefore be less noticeable. PARASOLL and VALLHORN are powered by AAA batteries and are attached with adhesive tape or a screw.
The IKEA PARASOLL will go on sale in Denmark in January for 79 DKK (~11 USD), while the VALLHORN will retail for 69 DKK (~10 USD). It is not yet known when and at what price the devices will appear in other countries. IKEA also announced the BADRING sensor, a smart home gadget to detect water leaks in your home. This product will be released in April; The price has not yet been announced.
