American police find the gunman who carried out attacks in Lewiston dead

Police have found dead the man who carried out attacks in the town of Lewinston, Maine, this week. Eighteen people were killed and 13 injured.

The shooter’s body was found on Friday evening (27) in a trailer of a recycling center where the criminal had previously worked. The car he was using had been parked a few meters away.

The location is 13 kilometers from Lewiston, where the attacks took place. Investigators had already searched the area twice but had not searched the trailer. Police believe he killed himself.

Little by little, Lewiston returns to routine. Trade reopened and the population moved around the city again. But this is anything but a normal Saturday.

As a resident left her home for the first time since Wednesday’s attacks, she was able to share her sadness for the 18 people murdered.

“I had to show that we as a community are there for each other. Give each other a hug, find out how everyone is doing and how we are moving forward,” says Amy.

The victims were between 14 and 76 years old.

In a statement, President Joe Biden said he was grateful that residents were safe at home after painful days. And he again asked the Republican Party for support for Congress to pass legislation that would increase gun control.

Four survivors remain in hospital. One of them is Keila’s boyfriend.

“Ben is easy. A good guy. Our days were a roller coaster ride. Every little improvement in your health is something big,” he says.
