He also reaffirmed the importance of the PLO as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
At the start of the meeting, President Mahmoud Abbas called on the international community to act immediately to stop Israel’s “genocidal war and most massacres.” “I also call on the leaders of Arab states to convene an emergency regional summit to put an end to this brutal aggression against our people,” the president said.
Abbas reported all the international contacts the Palestinian leadership has had in recent days to end the confrontation, but he stressed that Israel responded with a ground invasion against that area and increased bombings and killings.
“Our cause is in a very delicate and difficult situation, as our people in the Gaza Strip are facing a war of genocide and massacre in full view,” he stressed.
The ruler denounced that so far more than 7,500 Palestinians had lost their lives, most of them women and minors, and more than 20 had been injured.
