Firebombs near the UN base in Lebanon
The Israeli army this morning bombarded areas of southern Lebanon with “firebombs”, including the area near the UN base in Naqura, where the headquarters of the UN mission (Unifil), which includes a thousand Italian soldiers, is located. No casualties were recorded among civilians or soldiers. Lebanese media reported this, citing the mayor of Naqura, Abbas Awada.
“The artillery shells hit civilian areas, one of these shells reached an uninhabited house,” said the mayor. Sources on the ground reported a series of fires in the area of Naqura and Ayta Shaab, another location hit by Israeli bombing. Yesterday evening, a Nepalese UN peacekeeper was injured by shrapnel from a bullet that came from Israeli territory in the eastern part of the Blue Line between the two countries.

Surprise attack on Hamas, tensions between Netanyahu and the army
Disagreement among Israeli leaders over responsibility for Hamas’ October 7 surprise attack. Netanyahu wrote on Facebook that he had not been warned by either military intelligence or the Shin Bet (internal security) about the possibility of a war by Hamas. The military broadcaster responded that it had instead received warnings of possible attacks from the Iran-Hezbollah-Hamas axis, which has become “more aggressive” due to tensions in Israel. Centrist leader Benny Gantz (who is part of the “national emergency government”) defended the military leaders and called on the prime minister to retract his statements.

Iran: Israel has crossed the red lines
Israel has “crossed the red lines” and “could force anyone to intervene.” This is what we read in a post published on the social network account of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. “The crimes of the Zionist regime have crossed the red lines that could force anyone to intervene,” we read, “Washington calls on us to “Doing nothing but continues to provide broad support for Israel.” The United States sent messages to the Axis of Resistance (Iranian-backed forces in the Middle East, including Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah), but received a clear response on the battlefield.”

As part of the expansion of ground activities, he continued, “combined combat forces attack terrorist cells that have attempted to attack soldiers.” Last night an officer and a soldier were injured: apparently the first in this operation.
