(Trois-Rivières) This weekend in Trois-Rivières a search is underway for a kayaker who has been missing since Thursday.

According to the Trois-Rivières police, Pierre Couture launched his kayak into the water from the launch ramp of the Le Maïkan outdoor center at around 1:30 p.m. last Thursday.
Mr Couture is said to be an experienced kayaker, used to paddling on the Saint-Maurice River to the KI-8-EB Golf Club and back down to La Potherie Island.
The Trois-Rivières police received an official report of enforced disappearance on Friday evening.
On Saturday morning, police and fire departments began searching for the missing man. They patrolled the banks and the Saint-Maurice River on board boats. Two drones also traveled through the area to try to locate the kayaker and his boat.

Pierre Couture is 65 years old and 1.85 m tall.
The Coast Guard was also notified and a Sûreté du Québec helicopter was dispatched to the area.
