Ten months after the unexpected Christmas rave in La Peza (Granada), 20 kilometers away, a new Halloween rave has emerged in the municipality of Guadix that is significantly less crowded. On Saturday morning, dozens of young people arrived at a vacant lot in the municipality of Guadix (population 18,493), but outside the urban area. Since then, between 200 and 300 people in caravans, a hundred cars and tents have taken over the area. A stage and a sound system dominate the surroundings. As soon as there was news, the Civil Guard moved nearby. 36 hours after the party began, there were no incidents or mass evictions by the authorities.
Sources from the city council of Guadix, a town located just over 50 kilometers from the capital, assure that the situation is very calm, that they have settled on private property and not municipal land and that it is due to the festive gathering there are no unrest. For its part, the Guardia Civil remains on site and controls some entrances and exits as well as drug and alcohol checks. As of Sunday afternoon, it was predicted that those summoned would remain in the area until next Tuesday for a multi-day Halloween celebration and that they would leave the area after that.
According to the Efe agency, the Civil Guard has filed a complaint against the organizers of this rave. A call that, as usual in such cases, was made via social networks and surprised the locals. No one in the area expected this Halloween rave. The party location is an area near the Guadix waste transfer plant, far from the urban area.
Although the first cars and caravans to arrive in the open field had free access, vehicular access has become significantly more complicated since the arrival of the Guardia Civil and participants leave the vehicle in front of the police checkpoint and walk for about 20 minutes Half an hour walk to the party location.
This rave is not the first to take place in the area. Lately, every big festival in this area of Granada has its own hippie party. On December 30th, two dozen kilometers from the current one, another large Christmas party took place in La Peza (population 1,170), which lasted several days and was much larger than this Halloween party. Several thousand people occupied a natural environment that they left only six days later, as part of a call that brought together young people from several countries.
The media frenzy on this occasion was notable, but not so much the curiosity of the neighbors who even stopped by to see what was happening. In television interviews, some of them even said that they were very satisfied with the meeting and that they would not mind coming back another time.
