At 95, she wins a video game tournament

A 95-year-old resident of a retirement home won the video game tournament in Occitanie, southwest France.

The tournament called “Domitys Cup,” which took place Wednesday near Montpellier, is a generational competition featuring duos of a young player and an older player in the fighting game “Street Fighter 6.”

Three people, aged 88 and 95, were part of the duos lined up as the game took place in two phases with the elders taking control to fight, France 3 reported.

“It wasn’t easy to get them interested, but with this very colorful game and the surface they can put on their knees, they quickly gained confidence. And then they want to honor their partner so they learn quickly,” explained a host at the dorm.

“I’ve never played before. My arm hurts from typing on the keys, I’m almost paralyzed,” joked the victorious nonagenarian in a duet with young Jean-Louis before contesting the Ultimate Fighting Arena final in Paris on November 26, French media added.
